In contrast to the original cartoon series, the film version of Chip & Chap - The Knights of the Right lives in the real world where also cartoon characters like Chip and Chap live. However, Chip and Chap are not successful detectives here; they are former actors who enjoyed great success back in the late 1970s with their TV series, Chip & Chap - The Knights of the Right.
One day the duo will reunite, when a theater colleague of theirs mysteriously disappears. So they slip back into their old roles as detectives and rebuild their old friendship meanwhile.
