Disney had to come up with new plans for the costly franchise. The answer came in the form of Disney+: a streaming service that started together with the platform and saw almost unbelievable viewership and subscriber numbers.

All beginnings with 1977's first Star Wars movie. Then, the film was known in German-speaking countries as "The War of the Stars" and quickly became a box office success. For production, George Lucas founded his own production company, and the special effects company Industrial Light & Magic, which later had a huge impact on Hollywood with groundbreaking visual effects.
They look completely different. The story was very simple: a peasant from the planet Tatooine named Luke Skywalker fights against an overpowering galactic empire led by an emperor and his right-hand man, Darth Vader.
After 16 years, Lucas allowed himself time to travel to the strange universe again. In 1999-2005, he tells the prequels' story of how young Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: We turn now to Syria, where tensions are escalating between the government and opposition forces. On Wednesday, SyriaâÃÂÃÂs Supreme Military Council called for a three-month cease-fire in the country as fighting between rebel brigades and regime forces continues unabated. This comes as Russia pushes for a loose coalition of Syrian rebels to take control of Damascus to try to stabilize the situation there. Meanwhile, the United States has proposed sending several thousand more troops to help train rebels fighting AssadâÃÂÃÂs government, but officials say they donâÃÂÃÂt yet have a specific plan for how those troops would be deployed or when they would arrive in Syria.
AMY GOODMAN: Well, we want to turn now to another part of the world where U.S.-led NATO is stepping up its military presence amid rising tensions with Russia over Ukraine. Secretary of State John Kerry announced Wednesday that NATO will deploy an additional 1,000 soldiers along the allianceâÃÂÃÂs eastern border with Russia and install surveillance systems in Estonia and Latvia as part of defensive measures against potential Russian aggression. He said NATO members are also discussing plans for broader air defenses and missile defense deployments in Poland and Romania. Kerry made his trip to Estonia while on a stop in Ukraine, where he met with President Petro Poroshenko amid continuing clashes between government forces and pro-Russian separatists who have seized control of several towns in eastern Ukraine over the past few weeks.
SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY: [translated] The United States supports Ukraine's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders; we support an immediate cessation of hostilities by both sides; we support Ukrainian elections that are free and fair; we condemn any outside interference that aims to derail these goals; we encourage all parties to abide by their commitments under Minsk II; finally, we underscore that persistent provocations by pro-Russian separatists could lead very quickly indeed to further bloodshed and greater conflict within Ukraine itselfâÃÂÃÂa conflict that could ultimately spin out of control into Europe itself
angekÃÂündigt Disney+ is announcing a Star-Wars-series.
Since Lucasfilm has been flirting with the idea of producing a Star Wars series for TV for a long time, rumors about a real series have persisted. Whether these are serious ideas or fan wishful thinking, it's hard to say today.
I think it's time we changed the computer-animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," which starred between the movies "Star Wars - Episodes II: Attack of the Clones" and "Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." This series was produced between 2008 and 2020, and consists of seven seasons.
Another computer-animated series, "Star Wars: Rebels", focused on the construction of the Rebel Alliance against the dark empire and played between episodes III and IV. Numerous other animation series in different animation styles, telling different stories, are already available. More will follow.
His life will change fundamentally when he has to save a small child from the ruins of the empire. The series was a success and Disney's Star Wars bet finally paid off.
After Disney+ released the first two seasons in 2019 and 2020, more episodes are currently in production. It is not known when the third season will come out.
Disney and Lucasfilm placed their creative responsibility on the same people who had successfully executed with Mandalorian. The first season of Boba Fett started on December 29, 2021.
Now a overview of all currently available Star Wars series on Disney+:
The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Visions, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and Lego Star Wars: Die MÃÂächte des Schicksals are all animated series. Meanwhile, Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles is an episodic series that takes place between the original trilogy and prequel trilogy. Finally, Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises is a new animated series that will bridge the gap between Rogue One and Episode IX.
These Star Wars projects will continue
Especially after the success of "The Mandalorian", it's clear that Disney isn't going to stop producing series and films. The studio is continuing to drive this in a two-way street. Films will continue to be shown in theaters, but they'll eventually end up on Disney+ too. But while real- and animated series are enjoyed by both young and adult Disney+ viewers right away,
One of the most important science fiction series is "Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi," in which actor Ewan McGregor reprises his famous role as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and experiences various adventures. "Star Wars: Andor" on the other hand, focuses on Rebel and spy Cassian Andor, who played a key role in the film "Star Wars: Rogue One."
While there will be a reunion in Star Wars: Ahsoka of former Jedi student Anakin Skywalker, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic focuses on the work of humans rebuilding the Republic after the fall of the Empire. additionally, in Star Wars: Lando we'll see the return of Lando Calrissian, while Star Wars: The Acolyte explores one of the early epochs of the Star Wars universe.
Here is a overview of the upcoming Star Wars series and seasons:
According to reports, Disney is planning to release Star Wars: Andor (start: 2022), Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi (start: 2022), Star Wars: The Mandalorian Staffel 3 (likely ending in 2022), Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic (unbeknownst to us as of yet, start: unknown), Star Wars: Ahsoka (start unknown), and most interestingly, Star Wars: The Acolyte (probably starting in 2022). Additionally, Disney is also scheduled to release an unspecified animation film in 2020 and a live-action film in 2021.
verfilmt A Star Wars movie starring Wonder Woman is being directed by the actress.
Disney maintains its plans to release Star Wars films theatrically. Producer Patty Jenkins is directing the film "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron", which is set to come out in theaters in 2020. In this movie, there will be a squadron of Kamikaze pilots.
Taika Waititi is set to direct a new Star Wars project.
Taika Waiti had a tremendous career as a filmmaker, comedic actor, author, and producer in New Zealand. His films include "5 Rooms Kitchen Sink" and "Where The Wild Things Are" which both had great success. Afterwards, he directed the much-loved Marvel movie "Thor: Ragnarok" and the comedic drama "Jojo Rabbit," which won him a screenplay award.
Now he plans to create his own star wars movie with his quirky humor and charm. There is still not much known about the film, other than that he will co-write the script with Krysty Wilson Cairns, who also wrote the screenplay for the war drama "1917."
Kevin Feige sniffs around at Star Wars.
There is no wonder that Star Wars would be unsuccessful in comparison. Exactly how it will look however, only Feige himself knows for sure. Producer and author of the cartoon series "Rick and Morty" and the upcoming Marvel-Disney+ series "Loki" as well as the Marvel film "Doctor Strange" writes the script.
Star Wars documentaries: Everything about the background of the science fiction series.
Fans of the popular Star Wars movies can gain a glimpse behind the scenes with series documentaries "Empire of Dreams" and "Disney Galerie: The Mandalorian." "Empire of Dreams" covers the origins of the saga and the hard production process, while "Disney Galerie: The Mandalorian" provides an overview of all those involved in the series.
