Next year, Paramount+ will conquer Europe too. Here you'll find out everything you need to know right now.

Paramount is the new streaming service from the media group ViacomCBS, but it's actually not that new. In reality, it's a new direction for a streaming service called CBS All Access, which allowed viewers to see many of the show's and serials from Columbia Broadcasting Systems (CBS) easily. However, so far only American viewers could access it.

With a new name, an expanded offer and possible expansion plans for the European streaming market, the provider is now aiming to compete with rivals like Disney+, Apple TV+ and HBO Max.

Paramount+ is set to become available in Germany in a majority co-operation with Sky. According to first information, access to Paramount+ will be free for all Sky Q customers. There will also be a way to buy the streaming service without Sky.

CBS All Access started 2014, with Paramount+ trying to take on ViacomCBS-Konzern on 4 March officially but making a fresh start. The original service could typically cite 8 million subscribers, but compared to other portals it lags.

Naturally, with this so-called rebranding, an expansion of the offer goes along with it. Also, the service wants to expand globally and not just focus on the US and Latin American markets. It's still too early to tell if this will be enough to compete with streaming giants like Disney+ and Netflix.

Audiences can find over 30,000 on-demand TV shows and 2,500 movies from Paramount Pictures elsewhere on CBS, MTV, BET, Nickelodeon, The Smithsonian Channel, Comedy Central or from Paramount Pictures themselves. Add to this 24/7 news and live sports events including NFL and soccer matches.

To continue attracting additional spectators, Paramount+ offers a comprehensive program. This includes, for example, the hit sitcom "Frasier" with its 12 seasons and 264 episodes. Like Disney+ and HBO Max, the streaming service will also offer blockbuster movies shortly after their theatrical release, for example "Mission Impossible 7" and many more.

We've given you a glimpse of the extensive offer. ViacomCBS has announced that it plans to produce and present 50 original shows within the next two years through their streaming service.

The announcement of the revival of Frasier caused great anticipation among the fans. In addition, the TV adaption of the hugely successful Xbox game Halo is also being made. Additionally, a TV adaption of the film The Italian Job from 1969 is being made, which came out in 2003 with Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton in the cast.

This is about a young soldier who infiltrates a terrorist organization under cover. Plus, subscribers to "The Offer" can look forward to a 10-part series about the making of the classic film "Der Pate."

Fans of crime dramas come across as well: In a parallel to the crime drama series "Criminal Minds", "The Real Criminal Minds" presents a documentary-style show about true cases. It lets real FBI profilers speak about their work.

Chiwetel Ejiofor will take on the role of "Star Trek" actor David Bowie, who played this part in the past. One of the most important science fiction franchises from CBS and Paramount is still around and fans won't be disappointed; they can explore old and new series as well as the movies here.

There are the action blockbuster "Mission Impossible 7" and the sequel to the science fiction horror film "A Quiet Place 2". The top gun sequel with the addition of the title "Maverick" is supposed to come out in early July 2021, but it will actually only come out sometime in 2022 on streaming service.

Moreover, it is rumored that the long-awaited new Bond film with the title "No Time to Die" is supposed to be available shortly after its release on streaming services. What this "shortly after" means has not yet been announced.

At the meantime, customers can spend their time browsing a library consisting of 2,500 films. Here you'll find blockbusters and classics from MGM and Paramount.

Besides the many films and series, there is also a wide range of sports available. Sport fans can watch live broadcasts of NFL football, college football, the PGA tour, and the PGA championship golf, The Masters golf, NCAA Division men's basketball, and much more.

Apart from the fact that it is the only portal in the US that shows UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, if a streaming service were to come to Germany, this could look differently due to complicated legal reasons.

Paramount+ started in the United States and Latin America on March 4th, 2021. CBS All Access also started on March 4th, but unofficially. With the expanded content offering, Canadian subscribers can only expect it to be available at the end of the year.

It is likely that the service will not be available in Australia until 2021. According to a press release, in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway a start date of March has been set.

For other countries in Europe and for Great Britain, ViacomCBS has not yet provided specific time plans. However, the company seems to be pursuing a global market strategy that could include Germany.

No European or German subscription costs are currently known, so we first need to look at US prices - usually European subscription costs aren't too different from US prices.

This offer has limited advertising and you'll also have to pay with a restricted advertising allowance. For that reason, you have access to 4K-, Dolby-Vision- and HDR-content. Additionally, Paramount+, allows you to download various content files. This is especially advantageous if you're interested in viewing something while on the go but don't want to use your mobile data.

Like many other providers, you can choose between a monthly or yearly subscription. With a yearly subscription, there is always a saving of 15% when compared to a monthly subscription.

Naturally, Paramount+ also offers a trial phase. This lasts 7 days, but only customers who register before March 31st 2021 can try the service for free and then decide whether they want to continue using it or not.

The service allows its subscribers to see the various content on up to three devices at the same time. In total, customers can create up to six separate profiles for family members. Additionally, with a premium account, customers can download 25 episodes of TV shows or movies, to watch offline.

. Now viewers can only see a few series in 4K Dolby Vision HDR, including the series "The Good Fight" (from the 4th season) and the remade series "The Twilight Zone" (from the 2nd season). It is possible and likely that more follow. Additionally, there are a lot of nature documentaries in a 4K quality. Dolby Atmos is unfortunately not supported.

Paramount+ offers a lot of variety and a big content selection. It's unclear whether the brand Paramount will be able to compete with Disney+ and Netflix in the US and internationally.

German viewers have to be patient first, as an European start date for the service is still undecided. And even if the streaming service can make it to Germany, it's difficult to know for sure if German subscribers will be able to see all the shows, series, films and sports broadcasts that they're interested in.
