Shortly after exiting, Caruso left the director, Dan Trachtenberg, for a short time. Ultimately, the production company never gave the start signal and the movie rights went back to the creators of the comic book.

After these first failed attempts, it became clear that television or streaming was the only option for this epic story. In 2015, US broadcaster FX announced that they wanted to develop a series with author Brian K. Vaughn.

Aida Mashaka Croal and Michael Green stopped working on the project in February 2019. Despite all these problems, FX, Hulu and Disney held on to the project until September. We'll find out if the investment was worth it in September when Disney+ releases its report.
