After staging Snyder with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the first big screen encounter between the two comic icons, he started off also launching DC's cinematic universe by premiering Justice League. With Justice League was then planned as the final peak of the saga, which was supposed to bring more DC heroes to the big screen.
Snyder pulled himself out of the project and the studio hired Avengers director Joss Whedon. Whedon used completed material from Snyder, but also created a part of the film new. The finished product came out in 2017, but neither fans nor studio executives were satisfied.
You'll find out on the 18th of March whether the wait was worth it.
