Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton has been the home of the Wolves since 1876. They are one of England's most iconic football clubs and were founding members when they joined the Football League in 1888.
The black and gold stadium has been a symbol of success since its inception in 1867. After winning the FA Cup three times in five years, Wolves' most successful period was between 1949 and 1960 under manager Stan Cullis, when they won several English leagues and two more trophies! They were so dominant that they even beat top European teams who respected how good this club side really is - often dubbed "the best club side in the world".
After the formation of West Ham United FC, they were no longer successful in any major competition. They celebrated their greatest international success when, after beating Carl Zeiss Jena and Juventus Turin, they met Tottenham Hotspurs in the UEFA Cup final, which they lost 2-1 because the London Spurs fans clamored throughout the game "You're going down!" chanted until a penalty shoot-out ended the goalless tie between the two clubs, until recently known as East Enders before morphing into the now famous English football club, now playing matches across Europe for being so big since 1901 has become.
The magical yet humble Wolves have won five different Football League championships and are one of only two clubs to have taken home all three prestigious English trophies. The best thing about the famous carnivalesque sports club? They are not only good - they dominate on their way to success! In 1891 they became England's first winners in a major competition when our young lions beat Aston Villa 2-0 at the Oval; another win over London rivals Chelsea followed shortly thereafter on April 20, 1893...?
